Kentucky Insurance CE Guidelines

  • The license term is every 2 years on the last day of the birth month.
  • Producers born in an even-numbered year are required to complete their CE in even-numbered years.
  • Producers born in an odd-numbered year are required to complete their CE in odd-numbered years.
  • Producers must complete 24hrs. of Insurance CE (including 3hrs. of ethics training) every 2yr. license term.
  • At least 6 of the 24 required CE hrs. must be completed in a line of authority held by the Producer, except adjusters who may take all courses in property and casualty.
  • Excess ethics hours will go towards the optional hour requirement only.

Students are required to read and complete all study materials PRIOR to attempting the final exam.

  • Final exams are open-book. Producers may refer to course materials and notes as often as needed.
  • Exams do not require monitoring by a disinterested 3rd party “Proctor”.
  • Final exams must be completed with a passing score of 70% or above to earn course credit.

  • Carryover Rules

    • Excess hours of ethics carry over as “general” credit.

Upon successful completion of a course, AHI will provide students with a printable Certificate of Completion which should be retained by the Producer in their personal files.

AHI will report course completions directly to your state recording entity, based on individual state requirements.

Courses are licensed to be presented online or by paper based self-study.

The following are exempt from Kentucky Insurance CE requirements:

  • Producers who hold limited lines of authority under agent licenses
  • Producers who have not been licensed for a full year by the CE compliance date
  • Producers who hold nonresident licenses and have met the CE requirements of their home states
  • Producers who hold a license for the sole purpose of receiving renewals or deferred commissions and providing the office with a support affidavit
  • Non-resident adjusters who are licensed and in good standing in their resident state or designated home state. If the license terminates in their resident or designated home state their KY non-resident license will terminate and must be immediately surrendered.
