New Mexico Insurance CE Guidelines

  • The license term is every 2 years on the last day of the birth month.
  •  Even birth years renew every even year. Odd birth years renew every odd year.
  • Producers must complete 24hrs. of Insurance CE (including 3hrs. of ethics training) every 2yr. license term.
  • 3hrs. of Ethic MUST be completed in live classroom  or webinar.
  • Producers may take any course approved for insurance CE credit in Illinois.
  • 3hr. Ethics requirement must be completed by live classroom or webinar. 

Students are required to read and complete all study materials PRIOR to attempting the final exam.

  • Final exams are open-book. Producers may refer to course materials and notes as often as needed.
  • Self-study exams do not require monitoring by a disinterested 3rd party “Proctor”. 
  • Exams must be completed with a passing score of 70% or above to earn course credit.

Initial NFIP Flood Training Requirement:

  • 3hrs. of initial training must be completed prior to selling or soliciting flood insurance products

Initial Long-Term Care Training Requirement:

  • 8hrs. initial training must be completed prior to selling/solicitating Long-Term Care products.

Frequency of Long-Term Care Training:

  • Additional 4hrs. LTC training must be completed every 2yr license term following completion of initial requirement.

Annuity Best Interest Training:
Hours: 4
Frequency: One-time training must be completed prior to selling annuity products.

Effective October 1st, 2022, licensees who sell annuity products will need to complete an annuity course covering the NAIC Best Interest Standards.

  • Repetition Rules
    • Courses may NOT be repeated within a 2yr license term.
  • Carryover Rules
    • No excess CE hours may be carried over to the following license term.

Upon successful completion of a course, AHI will provide students with a printable Certificate of Completion which should be retained by the Producer in their personal files.

AHI will report course completions directly to your state recording entity, based on individual state requirements. 

Courses are licensed to be presented in classroom equivalent or  self-study methods.

The following are exempt from New Mexico Insurance CE requirements:

  • Producers who hold a limited license.
  • Producers who have been continuously licensed by the superintendent for 25 years or more, without a lapse of more than 90 days.
  • Producers who maintain a license solely for the purposes of receiving renewal fee residuals and does not otherwise transact the business of insurance.
  • Producers who are an agent of a fraternal benefit society.
  • Non-resident producers who have met the CE requirements of his or her home state.
